Through our partnership with Linewize, our school’s online safety and wellbeing provider, parents and guardians can enhance safeguarding controls on school issued Chromebooks.
Right now we have about 25 percent adoption of this valuable tool, and we would love to see more families take advantage of the support it provides.
We have recently worked with Qustodio to expand the tools available for parents who want to help monitor and guide their students while they are using school issued Chromebooks at home. In addition to being able to pause the internet on school devices, parents can now benefit from the following features:
- Web Filtering: Parents can add additional web filters on top of the district’s filtering when the device is at home. Please note that parents cannot unblock any sites that the district blocks by default.
- Daily Time Limits: Parents can set limits for Chromebook use outside of the school day. If you only want your student to have one hour of Chromebook time, you can now set that easily through Qustodio.
- Routines: Parents can set up routines that allow only specific types of content during the times they choose for at home use.
If you have already set up your Qustodio account, you will need to enable them within your account, visit this tutorial. If you are a new family using Qustodio, these will already be enabled.
